Out and About

Turkey is a country with a rich variety of places to visit, many of which are easily accessible from Gümüslük.

Bodrum, the birthplace of Herodotus takes only 30 minutes by minibus. It is home to a magnificent Crusader castle and the Mausoleum, one of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World.  It is also a busy coastal town with a wide selection of shops, a bustling Friday market and an exciting nightlife.

Kapikiri with the ruins of the ancient city of Heraklia along the shores of Bafa Lake is spectacular and only an hour’s drive from Bodrum.

Ephesus, one of the most important cities of ancient Greece is only a three hour drive from Bodrum.

Dalyan/Caunos, an area of unequalled natural beauty and an important Lycean site is a four-hour drive from Bodrum.

Getting there

The nearest airport is Bodrum airport.  This is approximately a one and half hour drive to Gümüslük.  Erol is happy to come and pick you up for approximately £35. Alternatively you can take a taxi, which is approximately £40 or rent a car. There are Turkish Airlines buses into Bodrum during the day but these only run at times which coincide with Turkish airline flights.

Izmir and Dalaman airports are approximately four and a half hours away.  There are direct buses to Bodrum from their central bus terminals.

Minibuses run every half hour between Bodrum and Gümüslük.  In the summer they run more frequently and into the small hours of the morning.
